A Simple Pre-Market Routine for Part-Time Forex Traders

A realistic pre-trading checklist: scan, plan, set alerts, and know when to step away—without living at the desk.

You do not need eight hours at the charts to prepare well. Many part-time traders win on consistency: a short routine that answers where they might trade, what would invalidate the idea, and when they will not be available to manage positions.

Start with context: what session are you in, and is major news scheduled? Then mark levels that matter on the pairs you actually trade—avoid scanning twenty instruments “just in case.”

Write one plan: if price does X, I consider Y; if it does Z, I stay flat. Alerts can replace staring. The point is to reduce impulsive decisions when life pulls you away from the screen.

End with a rule for shutdown. Trading around family, sleep, or a full-time job requires boundaries. A routine protects both your account and your attention.
